More About My Family Child Care: I believe my daycare is unique in that I combine my background in social services, 11 years of classroom experience serving four to six year olds with special needs and parenting my own children. My experience in the classroom allowed me to learn what is developmentally appropriate for children in all domain areas and behavior management techniques. In the Early Childhood classroom, I worked with a variety of professionals (teachers, communication disorder specialists, audiologists and advocates) who taught me a vast number of skills which I have generalized to my daycare, benefiting the children and parents I serve. I combine that experience with Christian values plus I try to make my home an extension of the children's home by emphasizing appropriate social skills, teaching self-control, conflict resolution and manners. In addition to introducing basic concepts needed for kindergarten, I prepare the children by encouraging self-help skills, attention to tasks and direction following. I purchase the monthly curriculum Mother Goose and enrich that with my numerous files collected from my classroom experience, daily children's literature, music from the Sing and Learn McMillan series and teaching basic sign language.
