The Scott County Board of Commissioners stands in support of our licensed family child care providers. On August 4, 2020, The Board approved Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding to support local small businesses, including licensed family child care providers, that have had financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They recognize the fact that each one of you provides a critical service in our communities and the work you do plays a key role in our economy. To each of you who have shared your pandemic-related experiences, concerns, and weighty decisions with Licensing, they thank you for your transparency and courage to do so. Know you have been seen and heard.
The Scott County Board of Commissioners has allocated $5.5 million to specifically provide financial support for local businesses who have not received assistance from other pandemic-related programs and businesses who have impacts that have exceeded other assistance received. Of that $5.5 million, they are delighted to announce that $1 million has been set aside for Scott County licensed family child care relief.
The Scott County COVID-19 Business Recovery Program has been established to make this relief possible. They are partnering with the Scott County Community Development Agency (CDA) and NextStage (the Program Administrator), a local non-profit.
